Canusa Case Study

DOE Water Services - Northern Ireland (CASE STUDY)

Frazer & Tabberer were heavily involved alongside Farrans Construction on the following project.
Customer:  DOE Water Services NI
Contractor Farrans Construction
Site Location Mourne Conduit
Co Down
Date: April 2001

20 kilometres of pipeline, varying from 1200mm to 1400mm in diameter will replace part of Mourne Conduit in the first phase of this, the largest water main project currently under construction in the UK.

Pipe joints are being protected with CanusaWrap Heat Shrink Materials.

Canusa polyethylene heat shrink was chosen ahead of the competition because the installed price, recovered thickness, adhesion, peel strength and cathodic disbondment properties of Canusa's premier all purpose sleeve, the WLO, could not be matched by any other material.

Only the best protection would be accepted by the DOE and Farrans Construction, with Canusa being the sole material to meet all requirements.
