Locking Lids Case Study

Three Valleys (Case Study)

Three Valleys Water continue to purchase a range of Locking Replacement Lids in an effort to combat the increasing problem of defective street furniture.

FT Pipeline Systems completed a series of street surveys in 2002 which identified the variety of surface boxes across the Three Valleys Water Company region. The surveying included a two-day “quick fix” programme in North London, which removed a backlog of jobs.

The surveys identified the types of boxes present along with picking out the problem tops, allowing the relevant lids and quantities to be ordered.

The “quick fix” scheme in North London permanently removed 54 jobs from the outstanding list, saving an estimated £5500 instantly as there was no excavation or reinstatement required.

As a result, Three Valleys Water have equipped their Inspectors with the Locking Lids. This initiative is causing jobs to be fixed first time at a minimum cost, solving the problem of Section 81 defects efficiently.
