Details: A world class White Water Canoe Centre for the London 2012 Games is to be built on the overflow car park for the showground site of the River Lee Country Park, situated on the outskirts of Waltham Abbey and Waltham Cross. The slalom venue is to include a 300m course, warm-up course and finish lake. After the 2012 Games, the intention is for the Canoe Centre to become a major sporting venue for canoeing and white-water rafting, as well as hosting competitive regional, national and possibly international events.
Morrison Utility Services plan to begin work on this project in the spring 2009. They will use 600mm pipe and fittings supplied by FT Pipeline Systems to divert an existing water main in order to make room for the Canoe Centre.
