Pipeline Corrosion Protection – Canusa

Pipeline Corrosion Protection – Canusa

Customer: South East Water

Project: 800mm pipe and fittings supplied to Barcombe near Sheffield Park Gardens in East Sussex

Details: The steel pipes and fittings were cement mortar lined to DWI 31 (4) (a) with socket weld connections, meaning that after external welding, no internal joint repairs were necessary.  The pipes were also coated according to DIN 30670 with FT’s 3 layer PE coating to prevent the pipes from corroding in the aggressive ground conditions.

On site, the pipes were welded together and a section was installed under a river and road – a larger diameter pipe was jacked into position and the 800mm steel pipe had runners attached to it, to centralise it in the tunnel.  Canusa Shrink Sleeves were used to maintain the integrity of the external coating after the welding process had been completed.
